Farmers Family Restaurant

April 11th, 2012 · Meat and Three, Senior's Discount

There is a new meat and three in town, Farmer’s Family Restaurant. It is located in the same strip mall as Office Max and the Outback Restaurant. They have been open since the end of February, I believe. The decor is rustic in that it resembles knotty pine logs and it cares the theme very well. The food is mouthwatering, hot, and plentiful at the very least. I have found all the food to be seasoned very well and not to be overbearing in any area. I especially love their sweet potatoes, corn and black-eyed peas. Their diner rolls are very fluffy and light, baked to perfection and hard to put down. the Desert area includes a wide selection including several sugar free items for all of us diabetics. They have a children’s area with several children’s favorites like chicken tenders, french fries, mac and cheese and of course chicken nuggets to name a few. They provide an excellent salad bar with tons of toppings and fresh, crisp lettuce for those wishing the “rabbit trip” through the garden.

Exceptionally well worth a trip for lunch although it is not close to Campus. They have been very busy during weekday lunch when I have been there, although it is getting less full during lunch. The average wait has been about 15 minutes. As expected the lunch prices are very reasonable, while the dinner prices are slightly higher but still within reason. Great place for a noisy, full free for all meal by yourself, a group or a family dining outing.

***The only issue I have had so far is that during the first opening days, I did have a few Black-eyed Peas that could have used a bit more cooking. Try it out, let me know if you like or dislike Farmer’s!!! Please be specific in your comments.

Gondolier

November 7th, 2011 · American/Italian

Italian Restaurant and Pizza -

This chain Restaurant is located in the old Shoney’s location on Broad St.  The chain is in Florida, Georgia, Kentucky and Tennessee.  Several people have stated that they really enjoyed their meals there and I am always game for good Italian.  Will post more after I have had a chance to check out their cuisine.

UPDATE: 11 NOV 2011 :

I have now had an opportunity to eat lunch at the Gondolier and am very impressed with not only the service but also my meal. I had the Gyro Platter and was totally amazed at the quality, quantity and marvelous tastes. The Gyro meat was tender, well seasoned and melted in my mouth. The Greek salad with Feta cheese was superb and the whole meal was well worth the $7.99 lunch price. I opted for fries instead of rice or spaghetti and this plate comes with pita bread. Speaking of bread, the Homemade bread sticks with marinara sauce were exceptional. The bread sticks were lightly toasted and very soft and hot. My daughter enjoyed a very nice sized plate of spaghetti and found it to be very delicious and tasteful, as I did my meal.

Well worth a trip for lunch as it is not too far from Campus and the lunch prices are very reasonable. Prices for dinner are slightly higher of course but still within reason. Great place for a quite lunch by yourself, a group or a family dinner outing.

Kirkenburt’s Smokehouse Grill

February 21st, 2010 · American/Italian, Southern, Special Theme

If you are looking for a great place for anything Smoked, Bar-B-Qued or Grilled then KirkenBurt’s is your place. They offer ribs, chicken, beef, Kielbasa, ham … hey when is the last time you had smoked Bologna? The atmosphere is causual, down home southern and the service is excellant! I personally have tried the Chicken Tenders and found them to be superb and cooked to perfection. I have heard comments that the Po’ Boys are really good. Oh, did I mention they have shrimp, clams, catfish, chicken oyster and roast beef Po’ Boys? They also provide about a dozen angus beef specialty burgers like the Bubba Burger, Pizza Burger and Mexican Burger to name just a few. Kirkenburt’s is well worth the trip.

Taste of Thai

February 14th, 2010 · Oriental

They may be small but some people feel they provide much more appetizing food than other similar, larger Resturants. I personally have not had the opportunity to partake of their cuisine but plan to do so in the very near future.

Location: On S. Church St next to the Cathay Asian Bistro which is next to the Ramada Inn Motel.

Cathay Asian Bistro

February 14th, 2010 · Oriental, Vegetarian

This is an excellent upscale, albeit expensive Chineese and Japanese cuisine Resturant. Several people I have spoken too have expressed only positive comments on the sushi and the sashimi. I personally do not care for either so will take their world for the quality. I am curious about their Teriyaki chicken and beef so will probably try either of those.

Location: Next to the Ramada Inn Motel on S. Church Street near the interstate.

Update 17 Mar 2010

A large group of friends and I enjoyed a very excellent lunchtime meal during Spring Break. Prices were slightly higher than comparable Restaurants but not unreasonable. The food and service was very good, especially with such a large group during a very busy lunch hour. Excellent for a family dinner or group lunch. Might try calling to see if they provide reservations during dinner times.
